Uses: JC-10 is a lipophilic fluorescent dye used as an indicator of mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm). In healthy mitochondria with a high membrane potential, JC-10 accumulates and forms aggregates that emit red fluorescence. When the mitochondrial membrane potential collapses, such as during apoptosis, JC-10 remains in its monomeric form and emits green fluorescence in the cytosol. The green-to-red fluorescence intensity ratio can therefore be used to assess mitochondrial depolarization and changes in mitochondrial membrane potential.
